Summary
Skool is the reference community + courses platform for a coach selling a subscription in dollars: feed, classroom, calendar, levels, mobile apps, built-in payments and the Discovery marketplace.
LearnFloo covers the same foundation (feed, courses, gamification) and adds what Skool doesn’t do: large-audience webinars with replay and attendance reports, StreamYard-style scenes, a video studio with editing, your own domain and brand, an API to connect your LMS or CRM, external participants without an account, internal chat, quizzes and certificates, and member payments in euros or dollars with no commission.
The real difference: on Skool, your members join Skool. With LearnFloo, they join your community, under your brand and your domain: you sell your community, not a Skool. Choose Skool if your model is “one community, one monthly subscription”. Choose LearnFloo if you are a trainer, a training organisation or a company, and your brand, live sessions, video and integration with your tools matter.
In detail
Community and courses: the same foundation
At their core the two platforms look alike: a feed organised by categories, comments, mentions, reactions, an events calendar, and courses organised into modules and lessons with progress tracking. Skool has the advantage of a head start: thousands of communities and a proven user experience. LearnFloo launches in 2 clicks with no required setup, and its iOS and Android apps are on the way.
LearnFloo offers a richer composer (formatting, images, video embeds, mentions), search within the space, video playback served from a CDN with resume position and bookmarks, a Discord-style internal chat per space (channels, real time) and private messages with no quota, where Skool limits new private conversations to 10 a week, plus two space modes: Training (community + courses + gamification) or Support (a helpdesk with private tickets between a member and your team).
Verdict: A draw on the feed, courses and getting started. LearnFloo adds internal chat, private messages with no quota, quizzes and certificates, Support mode and a richer composer.
Gamification: Skool made it popular, LearnFloo goes further
Skool made gamification popular: every like earns points, members level up, and you can reserve a course for members at level 3 or above. It is simple and effective.
LearnFloo takes the same mechanism (XP, levels, leaderboard, features unlocked by level) and extends it: automatic badges, login streaks, daily quests, challenges with proof and validation by the team. Gamification switches off in one click for spaces where it would be out of place (internal training, support).
Verdict: If engagement is your main lever, LearnFloo gives you more mechanics to switch on.
Live sessions and webinars: the real difference
Skool added native calls in 2025 (Skool Call for interactive sessions, Skool Webinar on the Pro plan for broadcasting). That is enough for a weekly call with your members. Participants must be members of the community, and there is no multistreaming, no custom domain and no attendance report.
LearnFloo is built for trainers whose live session is the product. Video call mode (everyone on camera) or webinar mode: the host and promoted speakers publish, viewers follow a stream that holds the load. Everything is pay as you go: a one-hour webinar for 100 viewers costs €9.40, replay included, with no subscription to take out for a one-off event.
Around the live session: StreamYard-style prepared scenes (layouts, guests, screen share, paginated PDF, videos, logo, banners), switched in one click or by an assistant in the control room, a room in your colours served under your own domain (live.your-brand.com), invitations for external participants without creating an account, multistreaming to YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitch or a custom RTMP, on-demand recording, an automatically published replay, then the “Live report”: attendance time per participant, minute-by-minute audience curve, saved chat, CSV export.
Verdict: For a group call, both do the job. For webinars, virtual classes or client events, LearnFloo is clearly ahead.
Video: host on Skool, produce with LearnFloo
Since early 2026, Skool hosts your videos natively in the Classroom, with automatic English subtitles and chapters. Before that you had to go through YouTube, Loom or Vimeo. There is no recording tool.
LearnFloo builds a Loom-style studio into the browser: screen, camera or screen + camera bubble, blur and virtual background, direct upload to the CDN, then a post-production editor: cuts, removal of silent passages, intro and outro, burned-in subtitles, overlays, thumbnail. The video becomes a lesson in one click, with a fallback MP4 URL for native playback everywhere.
Verdict: If you produce your own training videos, LearnFloo saves you a Loom or Descript subscription.
You sell your community and your brand, not a Skool
On Skool, what you sell is called “a Skool”: your community lives at skool.com/your-group, with the Skool logo, in the Skool interface, next to thousands of other groups. No public API, no webhooks, no custom domain, no white label; Zapier on the Pro plan with a few triggers. It is a deliberate choice that favours simplicity and the network effect of the Skool brand, not yours.
LearnFloo takes the opposite stance: the platform steps back behind your brand. Your community and your live sessions live under your own domain, in your colours, with your logo and your room backgrounds. And everything is driven through the documented public API (api.learnfloo.com/docs): your LMS or CRM creates members, opens access to a space, generates a personal entry URL for a live session, retrieves attendance and the replay. Your learners never leave your world.
Verdict: With LearnFloo, you sell your community and your brand. On Skool, you sell a Skool.
Monetisation and pricing: commission versus flat fee
Skool collects payments from your members on your behalf (Skool Payments, in dollars only, paid out in local currency) and takes a commission: 10% + $0.30 per transaction on the $9/month Hobby plan, 2.9% + $0.30 on the $99/month Pro plan. One community = one subscription price, no tiers, and since 2026 single-course sales. Its Discovery marketplace and its 40% recurring affiliate programme are real acquisition engines.
With LearnFloo, your members pay you directly on your own Stripe account, in euros or dollars, with no commission: €30 a month per paid space, plus Stripe fees. Soon, LearnFloo will also be able to collect payments for you, like Skool, for 10% all-in. Access to a space can be free, paid, approval-based or provisioned through the API from your LMS. An affiliate programme lets your members recommend you. Pricing is single and pay as you go: first space free, €10 a month per extra space, then live sessions and videos at actual usage, VAT included, with a monthly cap you set.
Example: a community of 200 members at €30/month generates €6,000/month. On Skool Hobby, the commission exceeds €600/month; on Skool Pro, about €235 in commission (2.9% + $0.30 per payment) plus a €99 subscription. On LearnFloo, with two masterclasses, two video calls and one hour of videos a month, the bill comes to about €81 all-in, sales fee included, plus Stripe fees: about €250 less than Skool Pro and €590 less than Skool Hobby, every month.
Verdict: Once your revenue passes a few hundred euros a month, having no commission outweighs a flat fee.
Languages, currencies and compliance
Skool is built in English and added Spanish and German in 2026; prices are in dollars only and data is hosted in the United States.
LearnFloo is available in English, French and Spanish, bills in euros with VAT or in dollars, and hosts data in Europe. Exports (attendance, statistics) are in CSV.
Verdict: For a European audience or a strict GDPR framework, LearnFloo saves you from having to justify the tool.
